Having AMC A-List this past summer has allowed me to go see movies in theaters that I normally wouldn’t go see. I have never been a fan of dog movies or racing movies, but Milo Ventimiglia AND Amanda Seyfried starring in this film made it clear that I had to go see The Art of Racing in the Rain. This film is full of tear jerking moments with incredible performances by Milo Ventimiglia and
Amanda Seyfried, and of course Enzo (voiced by Kevin Costner). This movie doesn’t try to do anything more than it has to, which is to tell a cliche story about a dog and its owner, and it doesn’t need to. It has nothing super unique to it and is full of cliches, which is why critics aren’t too fond of it, but if you are in need of a good cry this is the movie to see. There are some incredible quotes in this movie, especially toward the end, that are quite impactful and add to that tear-jerking effect. Also if you’re a dog person, if you currently have a dog, or if you’ve ever had and lost a dog, you will not have dry eyes while watching this film and need to see it. There are some questionable moments in the script, but other than that this was definitely a cute dog movie that served its purpose with two of my favorite actors. (3.5/5)
